The air is getting crisper and cooler at Toyota near Fullerton – and in some parts of America, the leaves are starting to change color. So, do you know what time of the year it is? If you guessed the football season, then you are on the right track. Perhaps football isn’t your cup of tea, but you still stick around and watch to help support your partner’s team and keep abreast of all the creative commercials that usually appear throughout the game.
A New Football Season Equals New Adverts
Again, without fail, this year’s football season has some epic adverts to keep us glued to our chairs. One of them, in particular, that has everyone at Fullerton car dealerships talking is the 2022 Toyota Tundra ad that also features other classic Toyota trucks.
The fast-moving commercial features the 2022 Toyota and other iconic Toyota trucks and SUVs. Besides the new Tundra, sales associates at Toyota near Fullerton tell us that we get to see Ivan “Ironman” Stewart‘s Trophy Truck and Marty McFly’s 1985 Tacoma from Back to the Future in the advert. If you love out-of-the-box style commercials, it is worth noting that this one-minute commercial airs at halftime during Sunday Night Football on NBC.
Many of us are pretty plugged in to what a Toyota car looks like and what we should expect from such an acceptable vehicle. Also, there are a few of us who even appreciate the full-size Tundra pickup. Nevertheless, not everyone has been schooled about the Japanese car maker’s vast history of their race trucks and much sought-after off-road SUVs.
Thankfully, Toyota near Fullerton says the commercial that appears during Sunday Night Football gives viewers a peek of some of the automaker’s home runs and flaunts the new 2022 Tundra in an epic, one-minute commercial that debuts during halftime of Sunday Night Football on NBC.
What Does The Commercial Reveal?
The commercial starts off with a camera shot racing towards a sandstorm in an anonymous desert. Well, well, the apparent sandstorm eventually becomes a portal into incredible images of Toyota trucks and SUVs from various eras doing sensational truck things.
For instance, the 1984 4Runner SR5 enters the scene with a gang of dirt bikes chasing its tail. Next, a rhino tearing through a savanna beside a 1960’s Australian BJ45, also referred to as a “Troopy”, which was short for Troop Carrier. The sandstorm converts into a snowstorm while a Voodoo Blue 2007 FJ Cruiser set in white powder accelerates across the screen.
The FJ turns into a 2017 SR5 driving through a blazing Abaddon in a wicked shift from freezing cold to red hot. Nevertheless, this backdrop is a nod to the bold and courageous who used his own truck to get patients to safety when the fatal “Camp Fire” in Paradise, California, happened back in 2018. Toyota honored the man with a brand new TRD Pro to replace his charred Tundra for his heroic efforts.
Subsequently, the 2012 Tundra CrewMax appears with its 5.7-liter V-8 effortlessly towing the Endeavour space shuttle. Toyota claims that the towing mechanisms, spacecraft, and dolly weighed a total of 292,500 pounds when the Tundra pulled them a quarter of a mile over a bridge as a shameless plug way back in 2012.
The next scene reveals two Toyota race trucks from the NASCAR Truck Series rushing down a racetrack. The shots we see here are very reminiscent of a Fast & Furious film, without missing a beat with close-ups of a tach needle dashing toward redline trailed by that must-have dramatic change in sequence.
Possibly the most distinguishable Toyota truck that shows up in the next shot is the black, jacked-up 1985 Tacoma that Marty McFly drove in Back to the Future. It crops up in a cloud of dirt after carrying out a fitting ’80s J-turn. If you are too young even to know what that is, type into YouTube “Rockford Files J-turn”, and you can thank the guys at Toyota near Fullerton when you visit to purchase your vehicle.
The last few scenes show a 1991 Australian FJ75 with an eye-catching snorkel rumble across the ground with a mob of kangaroos behind before Ivan “Ironman” Stewart’s trophy truck of Baja 1000 fame launches off a dune in climactic fashion.
The third- and second-to-last scenes see a 1991 Australian FJ75 with a prominent snorkel thundering over the ground with a mob of kangaroos in tow before Ivan “Ironman” Stewart’s trophy truck of Baja 1000 fame launches off a sand dune in a climactic manner.
Finally, the commercial ends with the all-new 2022 Tundra TRD Pro coming out of the sandstorm. Its extraordinary and huge muzzle are sitting there front and center, with rapid shots of its engraved tailgate and grille-mounted light bar before there is a wide shot of it eluding the sandstorm brings the adverts to its end.
2022 Toyota Tundra
Toyota has made changes to the 2022 Toyota Tundra from its frame, all the way up to its roof. The 2022 full-size Toyota pickup truck is cutting edge thanks to its hybrid engine option on several models, and all of them are paired to a new twin-turbo V6. This brings us to an end to the Tundra’s V8 engine era that dates back to 2000 when the 4.7L was the first generation V8 for a Toyota pickup. That engine was everyone’s darling, and it was proceeded by the veteran 5.7L workhorse.
Every 2022 Tundra has a new 3.5L twin-turbo that takes the entire enchilada with dual intakes and water-cooled intercoolers. Here and now, the engine is matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission, doing away with the old six-speed. The vehicle was manufactured in West Virginia, and the V6 generates more torque than the old V8, bringing 479 pound-feet and 389 horsepower to the table. When teamed up with a 288V nickel-metal hydride battery hidden under the rear seats, the upgraded V6 makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. That is quite an achievement since it makes more than a majority of diesel and emits fewer emissions.
