“The development of this new system represents a fundamental shift in the way we design products,” said TMNA Connected Technologies global chief UX designer Daniel Hall. “With the adoption of over-the-air (OTA) updates, we are able to develop software in smaller, more manageable pieces—with the ability to provide updates to customers even quicker.”
This new infotainment system is going to be available in vehicles that will arrive on dealers’ lots by the end of the year and any future products that have not been unveiled yet.
Finally, Over The Air Updates
Dealers near Tustin auto center are very excited about the fact that customers no longer have to hassle about taking their vehicle to a dealership or installing a new SD card for an infotainment system or navigation update. The new system allows the vehicle to be connected all the time, and you can download updates, so the system always stays modern as the technology lets it at every moment.
You Can Use The Navigation System On The Cloud
Every Toyota vehicle that is equipped with the new tech will have a native navigation system that features 100-percent cloud capability. This is significant because the system can receive over-the-air, real-time updates for navigation mapping over the vehicle’s entire lifetime.
It Comes With Smartphone-Like Glare-Reducing Technology
Toyota and Lexus will make the technology available on 8.0- and 14.0-inch infotainment touch screens. Those screens feature optically-bonded, glare-reducing technology that lets users experience a new infotainment system with smartphone-like capability.
The System Is Brought To Life With Animation
Toyota has managed to incorporate some unique animation so the complete system reacts more lively. So, no matter if you are listening to voice commands, processing those commands, or simply changing screens as the user moves between functions or looks at menus, you can enjoy the infotainment’s energy.

These consist of preferred radio stations and climate settings. The profiles are saved between trips, and the driver can retrieve them when he or she gets back to their vehicle.
You Don’t Need Any Keys, Passwords, Or Pins
There is a handy extension of the user profile feature that drivers can use, which is a digital key through a smartphone device when they are within the Bluetooth range of the vehicle. To access the function, users will approach the vehicle, open the Toyota app, then lock/unlock and start-stop their vehicle.
As the owner, you can share the vehicle’s digital key with up to seven different guests user at once. You don’t need passwords or PINs to share the key as long as guests register with the app.
Another great feature of Toyota’s new system is safety connect, which connects drivers with a 24/7 emergency response agent just in case of an emergency, who will then request dispatch of emergency services to a vehicle’s exact location. Also, this feature is very useful when locating a stolen vehicle.
The Screen Behaves Just Like A Smartphone

“With this new system, we are jumping into the future, from larger touchscreens up to 14 inches to having a 100% cloud navigation for more accurate and faster directions. We are thrilled to deliver this amazing and connected experience to our Toyota and Lexus guests,” said TMNA Connected Technologies group vice president Steve Basra. “We want all of our customers to experience this in-vehicle advancement, and that is why this system will eventually be offered across our vehicle line-up—regardless of screen size or model grade.
