Life on the road isn’t easy, and there are some of us who find roughing it a struggle. This is why ‘glamping’ was invented to give high maintenance individuals to sleep under the stars. The car dealerships serving Garden Grove Ca understand that living in a camper isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

However, due to the recent pandemic and travel to many countries has been banned, families are finding new ways to have some quality time together and get away from it all. Hence the fact that customers and families serving Garden Grove car dealers have thought about getting on the road for a long trip.

Obviously, there are several ways you can go about doing this. You can purchase an RV from car dealerships serving Garden Grove in California, do a van conversion, or build a truck camper. For a man named Chris ‘Tarzan’ Clemens, after a lot of research and development, a Toyota Tacoma truck camper build is what he did to create a ‘home on wheels.’

How Did Tarzan Get The Idea?

Tarzan had his eye on the Toyota Tacoma for years, but it was only when he was sipping a bottle of wine in New Zealand that he came across a truck for sale on Craigslist in Denver. At the time, the truck was halfway across the globe, but his brother lived there, so once Tarzan knew the sun was rising in America he called his brother to go buy the truck for him. A couple of days later, Tarzan booked a flight back, he arrived in Denver and picked up his new ride, which was a 2002 Toyota Tacoma with almost 200,000 miles on it.

How Do You Live In A Toyota Tacoma?

Before attempting to build his unique camper, Tarzan lived in a Toyota Tacoma in shell form for a year. He learned a lot from that experience and from the 3 years he spent living in a Volkswagen van. He took the knowledge he gained from living on the road and applied it to his custom-built Toyota pop-up camper.

Essentially, car dealerships serving Garden Grove in California say it is a home on wheels that is adequate for him and Lisa Jane, who joined when he drove through California and went along for the ride with Tarzan. However, what makes this camper truck so amazing?

The truck has transformed from shell to slide in pop camper. Tarzan bought a 2002 Toyota Tacoma a few years ago that had two hundred and thirty-six miles. When he first bought the Tacoma, Tarzan installed an ARB front bumper with a Smittybilt winch, and also there was a highlife Jack mounted to the front end to assist in any sticky situations.

The front has a jawbone that he and Lisa found in Palmer, Alaska. It gives the truck a more rugged look. Also, Casey highlights were installed on the front bumper and an LED light bar on the top of the truck. Additionally, he added a snorkel, which may sound a little silly, but it wasn’t until Tarzan tried to cross a river in Alaska and a whole tidal wave of water came over the hood. So, that is why Tarzan installed the snorkel!

What About The Inside?

Inside the vehicle, there is a 1989 sunlight pop-up truck camper for a pickup-size truck. When you enter from the back door, you will find the living space, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom. The truck camper came already equipped with a three-burner propane stove, which Tarzan and Lisa cook on at least once a day.

Next to the cooker is a sink with a water faucet that runs off a water pump. Originally, the camper came with a 12-gallon water tank, but Tarzan changed it to a 22-gallon custom water tank. There are two sliding drawers for utensils as well s odds and ends. Also, there is a built-in propane heater for those cold nights.

To make sure that life on the road is as comfortable and easy as possible, the Toyota Tacoma truck camper is built for comfort. Even though it is very small, Tarzan was able to place many storage solutions into the build of the truck pop-up camper. For example, there is storage under the step up into the bed.

The whole camper runs power to its stove, outside shower, refrigerator, basically all the essentials with solar electricity. Plus, propane powers many of the working parts as well. In general, this pop-up truck camper is extraordinary and prepared for about anything.

The Truck Camper Is Called ‘Terk’

Obviously, Tarzan had to christian his awesome truck camper with a name. He lovingly called his 2002 Toyota Tacoma ‘Terk’, which seems to be a suitable name for it.

How Do They Use The Tacoma’s Cab And Bed?

Because Tarzan and Lisa live on the road, they are travelers that have to make most of every inch of space they have. So, behind the front seats of the pickup truck cockpit, they store an inflatable kayak, a cooler, and camping gear. Also, they keep necessary gear for recovery just in case the truck gets lodged somewhere along their travels.

Although the camper fits right over the bed, there is access to all of the empty space left after attaching the truck camper.  When inside the pop-up camper, Tarzan and Lisa have extra storage space for shoes and other necessities. This is only possible by using that extra bit of space left over in the truck bed of the Toyota pickup truck.

So, living in a truck isn’t all that bad. You have everything you need all in one small neat space. There aren’t many costly bills, you don’t have much to clean and maintenance is practically null. The best part is when you get fed up with your surroundings, you can just hop in your truck and go onto your next great adventure! That is something you just can’t do in a normal average home.
